Constellation Nuclear

During the summer of '24, I interned in Constellation’s Central Design Organization's Electrical Analytical Group. I assisted with an engineering change to replace a Main Power Transformer (MPT) with a newly installed contingency MPT.

Short Circuit and Load Study

The replacement transformer differed slightly from the current one, so calculations were performed. A load study ensured that the new power requirements for the transformer’s breaker box were within acceptable limits that would not necessitate a physical change. A short circuit calculation verified that the differing load would not significantly affect relay performance. I used ETAP software to simulate and verify the results.

Presentations

Near the end of my internship, I had the opportunity to speak at a technical pre-job brief. Specifically, I presented a list of critical parameters for replacing the MPT with the contingency unit.
